Nothing compares to the quality of a hand-crafted Thompson®
leather Bible. You'll notice the difference the moment you lift a
new leather Thompson®
from its protective box. Before you can open your new Bible, the
wonderful scent of genuine leather will fill the room. We are very
careful about the leather we accept. Only the finest hides are
used to handcraft your Thompson®
Bible, and it takes a full day to make one.
One reason we're
so choosy about our leather is because Thompson®
Bibles are crafted for a lifetime of use. If you own a Thompson®
you already know that the more you use a Thompson®
the better the leather feels. It gets softer and more supple every
year. Men tell us their Thompson®
fits their hand like a baseball glove. Women say they hold it to
their chest like a dear child.
The Word of God
should be our most treasured possession. If you love God's Word
you deserve to carry a Thompson®.
It's an investment you'll be happy you made.

God's
Word should be wrapped in gold.
The perfect
leather study Bible should have gold-gilded pages, and most
premium study Bibles do. But Thompson®
Bibles are still done the old fashioned way, with "old world"
craftsmanship.
Chances are if
your Bible has gold page-edges, the gold was sprayed on, like
paint. It's okay, but usually loses its luster. Here's how we gild
your Thompson®:
First, before we
ever apply the leather cover, we squeeze your Bible tight in a
vise. Then we sand the edges as smooth as glass. Finally, we lay a
thin sheet of gold-foil on the edge of your Bible, and put it in a
press that applies 50,000 pounds of pressure. That pressure causes
so much heat, the paper nearly ignites! But that's what is
required if you want to fuse gold to paper. Then we repeat
this process on all 3 sides of your Bible, and the rounded
corners.

A Thompson®
is the only true "Influence-Free" Study Bible. This is the one
very important difference between a Thompson®
and most other study Bibles. Most study Bibles fill their margins
with another person's commentary. These are notes from a
knowledgeable author who tries to explain the text to you.
Commentaries can be useful, but every author has his or her own
view and biased agenda. Commentaries offer wide and often opposing
influence. Your Thompson®
Bible is "influence-free," because instead of commentary, our
margins are filled with thousands of chain-references®
that propel you ahead into Scripture. Scholars agree that the
Bible is its own best commentary, and no other study Bible helps
you go deeper into the Scriptures than a Thompson®
Chain-Reference®
Study Bible.

Touch
the paper of a Thompson®
and it will touch you back. Our printers have told us how much
money we'd save if we just used the same paper as everyone else.
NEVER. Our customers pay a little more to own a Thompson®
and we promise a lot more. The paper in your Thompson®
Bible is of the highest quality available. The purest water and
the finest paper pulps are used so that your Bible is guaranteed
to never yellow or discolor. Fifty years from now when your
great-grandchild picks up your old Thompson®, the pages
will be as white as they are today.
The pages are
sewn together so they stay in your Bible, even after decades of
use. Most all publishers glue their books when binding. That's why
their Bibles won't stay open to the page you've turned to. Open
any Thompson® and it lays open flat, whether you turn to
page 1 or 2,400.
There is nothing
else like the feel of the super-clean paper of a Thompson®.
When you drag your fingers down a page you'll hear a faint
squeaking sound. The sensation in your fingers is hard to
describe, but it's almost like your Thompson® is touching
you back. As you personalize your Thompson® with your own
notes and discoveries, the paper gets softer and richer to touch.
Flip through the pages of your Thompson® you'll love the
unique sound this paper makes. It's like a gentle breeze brushing
the leaves of a mighty oak. [top of page] |
